Teaching in a middle school is a one-of-a-kind career.  Sometimes it’s funny; sometimes not so much; but it’s always interesting.

I have been a public school teacher since 1993.  Specifically, I am the band director and music teacher in what we’ll call Backpack Middle School, in a small Hoosier town with high standards.  This blog is a place for me to tell stories about life in middle school, post occasional short essays on issues in public education, and share tips and tricks with other band directors and music teachers.

I hope these stories will be entertaining and enlightening.  Feel free to make comments.  Share this with other people.  Subscribe to receive emails about new posts.  Enjoy!
